Henry A. Schwenke 1913-2003

"Ye Olde Bowhunter"

Henry Schwenke was one of 10 original members of the Sidney Bowhunter's Club, which later was renamed Lone Tree Archers. His love of archery continued throughout his lifetime, and he operated an archery shop out of his home.

Through the years, Henry received many honors for his dedication to archery.  In 1979, he received the Montana Bowhunter Association award for "Bowhunter of the Year."  He was also inducted into the Montana Hunting Hall of Fame in 1995 with a Lifetime Achievement Award in Bowhunting.  Henry was still hunting deer with his longbow up to the age of 83.

The Lone Tree Archers Club honors the legacy of this special founding member with our annual "Henry Schwenke 3D Shoot" every summer.

Below are some photos and newspaper articles, as well as an article printed in the Traditional Bowhunter Magazine about Henry.
